Hello, my name is Laporsha Anderson. I am currently pursuing my doctoral degree. This website is created for a course I am taking and will be under construction until late spring. Please have patience as I give you a glimpse into my world.

Personal Philosophy

Education at all levels has increasingly integrated the use of instructional technology. In my capacity as an educator, I believe it is crucial to use technology purposefully and ethically in order to improve the quality of learning outcomes and experiences for students. I envision a student-driven learning environment guided by the strategic integration of instructional technologies. I do not want technology for its own sake, but a deliberate incorporation of solutions that address real pedagogical issues and promote critical thinking, creativity, communication, and collaboration.

I consider educators to be facilitators who should determine the way students use technology. When everything is so easily accessible, the transmission of content knowledge becomes less important, and it gives more grounds to refocus on teaching them research skills, media literacy, responsible digital citizenship, and developing their ability to find, evaluate, and apply information. Achieving this essential skillset will allow self-directed learning for a lifetime, which is critical to success. The role of educators also has to change as new technologies continue to disrupt the education sector. I commit to being a lifelong learner by continually increasing my ability and familiarity with current instructional technologies through professional development. Even though technologies and accepted standards will come and go with time, my fundamental belief in a student-centered technology that is thought-provoking as well as fun to use will never change.

My aim is to strategically utilize contemporary and modern digital solutions and provide an active learning environment primed to prepare my students for maximum potential success both academically and professionally in our interdependent world. This can be regarded as my guiding philosophy regarding instructional technology, a viewpoint that I will continue reviewing and developing over the years.
